Taught by film director and producer Frankie Fenton, this Crowdfunding for Film class is a practical, step-by-step guide that gives you the knowledge and tools to create a successful crowdfunding marketing strategy for your films.
This 1 day session is recommended not only for filmmakers who are nearing completion on a film, but designed with those who are in the early stages of a project in mind, as well as anyone who wants to have a clear understanding for raising funds from alternative sources. In addition, participants will be encouraged to consider how your strategy fits into your entire project so that you can carry your audiences in to the future and begin building a sustainable model for future projects too.
Participants will develop these essential skills:
• Setting achievable goals, strategies for launch, building your team and managing time for your film’s release.
• Connecting with and building a sustainable audience for your project through social media, organizational partnerships, and crowdfunding techniques.
• Managing international media online alongside live events.
• Mastering a new approach to making your promo video and setting rewards.
In order to accommodate the class to participants’ individual needs, Frankie requests that you submit, in advance, a synopsis of a current project. This will allow Frankie to point up highly relevant examples.
BIOGRAPHY
Frankie Fenton is an Irish Film and TV Director/Producer specializing in documentary film to do with pressing social matters. He is a graduate of Dublin City University and has achieved a Masters in Film and Television Studies.
As founder of Sector 7G Frankie has participated in international pitching, financing and shooting in many forums worldwide. He is an expert in online crowdfunding appeals and regularly consults in funding documentary projects both sides of the Atlantic. He is highly skilled at pinpointing and targeting potential audiences and building strategic support and educates on the benefits of online marketing.
Recent directing credits include “The Good Reactor” (funded through Kickstarter) an environmental feature documentary about controversial ways to solve the coming global energy crisis. And “It’s Not Yet Dark” another feature in conjunction with Newgrange films and Kennedy films in Dublin Ireland. This film starring Colin Farrell explores the work of award winning Irish film director and best selling author Simon Fitzmaurice who has just finished filming his own feature “My Name Is Emily” (Nominated for 8 IFTA’s) while managing motor neuron disease. Simon uses his eye to communicate through Eye Gaze technology. Both films are due to be completed in early 2016.
